Our SafeHer handgun class is for women only and will pair you with both male and female instructors, providing you with a low intensity defensive training class that doesn't feel like Bootcamp. We focus on teaching you an Intuitive Reactive Shooting style that will increase your accuracy allowing you to put all your rounds on target in a High Stress Encounter. We will sharpen your defensive mindset and situational awareness to help you avoid a bad situation. ![]() Living Safe | Home Defense In these tough times with crime on the rise, are you prepared to keep your family and yourself safe and secure? Whether it be a home invasion, random violent encounter or natural disaster. You will be provided with the training, tools, mindset and techniques necessary to be able to react quickly and succinctly. You will be more prepared at home, in your vehicle, a public place or on vacation to assess and avoid a dangerous situation. This pre-course will prepare you for our Level 1 Defensive Handgun, Carbine, or Shotgun course by giving you experience with all 3 before deciding which you choose for your situation. Level 1 - Course Outline: Setting up a "Safe Haven", Choosing the correct defensive firearm, Choosing safe storage, Flashlight selection, Preparing and selecting a B.O.B., Situational awareness, Mindset. NRA First Steps FIRST Steps Pistol Description "FIRST" stands for "Firearm Instruction, Responsibility, and Safety Training". The NRA developed this program to meet the need for a firearms orientation program for new gun purchasers. This FIRST Steps program is a basic course abbreviated to the most fundamental shooting skills, and the specifics of a particular model of pistol. This course, because of its narrow focus, can be completed as quickly as three hours. Students will get the NRA's "The Basics of Pistol Shooting" handbook and quick practical lessons on the safe use, cleaning, and storage of their pistol. The practical exercise covers a single pistol shooting position. As the number of participants or pistol types present increases, the course will take proportionally longer. Course Goal: To provide beginning shooters with an introduction to the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to own and use a specific pistol model safely. Lessons: 1) Introduction to Pistol Safety, Parts, and Operation 2) Introduction to Ammunition and the Fundamentals of Pistol Shooting 3) Introduction to Pistol Shooting from the Benchrest Position 4) Introduction to Pistol Cleaning, Storage, and Training Opportunities Prerequisites: There are no prerequisites for taking this course, and the material is accessible to appropriately supervised mature children. Course Completion Students will receive feedback on the live fire exercise and a course certificate upon successful completion of the lessons. Handgun handling: Stance, Grip, Breathing, Trigger control, Sight alignment, Target identification, Multiple targets, Various reloading options, Transitional shooting, Malfunction drills, One-handed shooting and manipulation, Shooting on the move, Utilizing cover.
